Workspace Ingredients For a More Productive Career
It doesn’t matter what career you are pursuing, productivity is an essential element of success. You might be the most brilliant writer, or engineer, or logistical co-ordinator, but if you don’t get your work done in a timely manner it doesn’t matter how epic it is. No one will see that work, and no one will want to hire you or work with you. You might think you should be focused solely on honing your craft, and that’s crazy important, but I say you should focus first on producing your craft. One follows the other, but productivity comes first. You can’t work on making your novel or website or design better if you don’t produce one in the first place!
I am a master procrastinator. I’m interested, and inspired, and motivated — until I actually sit down to do the work. Then suddenly I just can’t seem to produce. So I walk the dog, or make endless cups of tea, or waste all my time in the black hole of the internet in the name of “research”. Over the years I’ve come up with a few tried and trusted strategies to banish procrastination and make myself much more productive.
