I thought perhaps a “happy ending” would have been disrespectful to those whose suffering was never addressed or resolved — a sort of whitewashing of history? But I now appreciate that it appears it wasn’t important to wrap up Ka’kwet’s story with dignity and hope, and that this is a damaging decision.
